New screening technology will help to produce high efficiency drug to curing cancer

Prior to their research, the majority of those screening drug were prefer to look for disease-related pathways small molecules. However, their new screening method is based on the final performance of the entire cell. They use small molecules to treat the Dictyostelium discoideum which just likes the mammalian cell. Under normal circumstances, Dictyostelium discoideum only has two nuclei appearing in the process of division. If the proportion of multinucleated cells is relatively high, it means that the small molecule affects the process of cell division.

The researchers found 25 compounds in the above thousands small molecule in which 4-HAP can affect myosin II which is the cytoskeletal components of cells. In the development of pancreatic cancer, the cancer cells will be spread to other parts of body from the primary tumor cells. Studies have shown that the invasion pancreatic cancer cells will be more easily deformed and this characteristic has directly relationship with myosin II.
